The Safety Region SouthHolland South is the lead partner in the PRISMA project (Promoting and Implementing Strategies for Risk management and Assessment.) Prisma focuses on the development and implementation of risk management strategies and the use of risk assessment as its principle basis.
Objective
The objective of PRISMA is to test the cross‐sectoral implementation of risk assessment and the development of risk management (prevention) strategies, as described in the MiSRaR handbook. A second objective is to stimulate the use of risk management on a European level and to romote and implement the exchange of knowledge between local and regional governments
pand their numerous stakeholders.
The European Union considers current challenges related to risks and safety a top priority and provided financial support for this project out of the “Civil Protection Financial Instrument”.
Conferences
In close cooperation with the Regional Economic Development Institute of Stara Zagora in Bulgaria, de municipalities of Mirandela and Aveiro in Portugal and the city of Tallinn in Estonia, PRISMA organizes three conferences, titled “ The future of risk management in Europe”. Local governments in the EU are increasingly being confronted with safety risks. European and national legislation assist them in the development of risk management strategies. The implementation of structural risk management, related to spatial planning however is easier said than done. The three conferences will be organized with an aim to assist the participants in he development of their own risk management practices through the exchange of experiences and knowledge in these fields.
